How much does Etsy take per sale?
For a US seller, Etsy charges $0.20 to list, 6.5% of the item price plus shipping, and 3% + $0.25 for payment processing. On a $30 order ($25 item plus $5 shipping) that comes to $3.30, or 11% of what the buyer pays. Offsite Ads and Etsy Ads cost extra when they apply.
Does Etsy charge fees on shipping?
Yes. The 6.5% transaction fee applies to the shipping and gift wrap you charge as well as the item price, and payment processing applies to the order total.
Does this calculator include Offsite Ads?
Yes, if you choose a rate. Offsite Ads only apply to sales that came from one of those ads: 15% for shops under 10,000 USD in yearly sales, and 12% for shops at 10,000 USD or more, up to 100 USD on any one order.
Does Etsy charge a monthly fee?
A standard Etsy shop has no monthly fee. Etsy may charge a one-time setup fee when you open a shop, depending on your location. This calculator covers the fees on each order, not that one-time fee.
What price should I charge on Etsy?
Start from the profit you want. Add your product cost, postage and that profit, then allow for Etsy fees, which take about 11% of a $30 US order. The price finder on this page does the maths. Then compare the result with similar listings, because buyers see those prices too.
Do Etsy fees go down when I run a sale?
Yes, the percentage fees are charged on the discounted price, so they shrink a little. Your costs do not, which is why a sale can cut profit much faster than it looks. Use the sale tester to see each discount before you run it.
Does free shipping save Etsy fees?
No. The 6.5% transaction fee applies whether the buyer pays for shipping separately or you build it into the item price. On the same total, the fees are the same.
