Etsy marketplace consultancy for businesses in the USA and worldwide.
The best print on demand for Etsy depends on your product and buyers. We compare Printify, Printful and Gelato using only features verified on their sites.
In short: The best print on demand for Etsy is the provider that prints your main product well, produces close to your buyers and connects cleanly to your shop. Printify suits sellers who want a wide catalog and a choice of print providers. Printful suits sellers who want one company handling production and branding. Gelato suits sellers with many buyers outside the US. Order samples from two providers, compare total cost per order and delivery time, then decide.
Last updated: 27 October 2026. Provider details checked today on Printify's pricing page and Etsy integration page, Printful's pricing page and Etsy integration page, Gelato's Etsy page, and Etsy Help's Working with Production Partners on Etsy. Plans and prices change often, so confirm them on each provider's site before you sign up.
Your print provider makes every product your buyers receive, so it shapes your reviews, your delivery times and your margin. A lot of comparison lists rank a dozen companies using prices copied from old pages. This one is for Etsy sellers picking a first provider or thinking about switching. We only include features we confirmed on each provider's own website, and we'll show you how to test providers yourself.

A print on demand provider is a company that prints your design on a blank product and ships it to your buyer after an order comes in. You pay the provider for the product and shipping; the buyer pays you on Etsy. There are two main kinds:
Gelato sits in between: it routes orders to a network of production partners in many countries, with the aim of printing close to the buyer.
POD marketplaces such as Redbubble are different again. They sell your designs on their own site, so they aren't a way to fulfill your Etsy orders.
We score providers on six points before price. A low base cost means little if the shirt arrives late or the print fades.

Here's what each provider's own website says today. We left out anything we couldn't confirm on the provider's site.

Plans, discounts and product counts change often, so treat this table as a starting point and check the current details before you commit.

Printify is a network. When you create a product, it's made by one of the print providers in its network, and options differ between providers. Printify says using the platform is free, with no platform fees or listing fees, and it is an authorized Etsy Partner that imports your Etsy orders automatically and sends them to production based on your approval settings.
Its Premium plan, according to its pricing page today, costs from $24.99 a month billed yearly or $39 billed monthly, with up to 20% off all products and up to 33% off new products. That can pay for itself once you have steady orders, but it adds nothing before your first sales.
Printify fits you if: you want a wide product range, you're willing to compare providers inside the network, and margin matters to you on every product.
Watch out for: quality and production time can differ between providers in the same catalog. So order samples from the specific provider you plan to use, and stick with the ones that pass.
Printful runs its own fulfillment centers and says on its pricing page that it ships from the center nearest your customer, with most orders fulfilled in the same region as the buyer. It's free to use with no monthly fees, and it charges only when a customer places an order. Orders ship under your brand rather than Printful's.
The Growth plan, listed today at $24.99 a month, gives up to 33% off product pricing and becomes free once you reach $12K a year in sales, according to Printful. Extras such as inside labels, outside labels and additional print placements are charged separately.
Printful fits you if: you want one company responsible for production, you sell apparel where consistency matters, and you plan to build a recognizable brand with labels or packaging.
Watch out for: branding extras add to your cost per order, so include them in your price.
Gelato's pitch is local production. Its Etsy pages say it produces in 32 countries and that most orders are produced locally, so a buyer in Germany or Australia can receive an item printed in their own region. Gelato says it is free to use, with no minimum orders or leftover stock, and that you pay only for what sells. A paid Gelato+ plan adds product discounts; the price varies by market, so check it on Gelato's site.
Gelato fits you if: a large share of your Etsy buyers are outside the US, or you sell wall art, cards and paper products where local printing saves on bulky, slow international shipping.
Watch out for: product availability varies by country, so check that your main products are produced locally in the regions where you sell.

Use your product and your buyers, not a ranking, to decide.
| Your situation | Start by testing | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Apparel shop, mostly US buyers, margin-focused | Printify and Printful | Compare a network provider against an in-house operator on the same shirt |
| Brand-led apparel with labels or packaging | Printful | White label by default, with branding options in one place |
| Many buyers in Europe, the UK or Australia | Gelato and Printful | Both say they produce close to the buyer |
| Wall art, posters and cards sold internationally | Gelato | Local printing avoids shipping bulky items across borders |
| Wide mix of products in one niche | Printify | Large catalog across many print providers |
You can also use more than one provider in the same Etsy shop. Many sellers start with one, then add a second only for a product type or a region the first doesn't serve well. Each provider you use must be listed as a production partner on the listings it makes.
The provider with the best sample and a reliable delivery time usually wins, even if it costs a little more. A refund or a one-star review costs more than the difference.

Connecting a provider takes a few clicks, but Etsy's rules need a little more care:
Our guide to starting print on demand on Etsy walks through the full shop setup, and our Etsy print on demand service can handle the provider and partner setup for you.
Yes, and they change often. Base prices depend on the product, the print provider, the print method, the number of print areas and the destination. Paid plans then lower product prices by a percentage. We don't quote base prices here because they move too often to stay accurate.
Compare providers on profit per order, not base price. Take your planned retail price and shipping, subtract the provider's product and shipping charge, then subtract Etsy's listing fee ($0.20), transaction fee (6.5%) and payment processing (3% + $0.25 for US sellers). Our guide to print on demand pricing has a formula and a worked example.

Switch when your data says so, not because a new provider has a cheaper headline price. Good reasons include:
When you switch, order a new sample, update the production partner on every affected listing, check your shipping profiles and replace mockups if the product looks different.
It depends on your product and buyers. Printify gives you a wide catalog across many print providers, while Printful runs its own fulfillment centers and ships under your brand. Order the same sample from both and compare.
Yes. You can connect several providers to one shop, as long as each is added as a production partner on the listings it makes and your shipping profiles show where each item ships from.
Printify, Printful and Gelato each say they are free to use, with optional paid plans that give product discounts. You pay for each product when an order comes in.
Look for a provider that prints in your buyers' regions. Gelato says it produces locally in 32 countries, and Printful says it ships from the fulfillment center nearest the customer.
Etsy requires you to disclose production partners on the relevant listings. You can use a descriptive title for the partner, but its location must be accurate.
